Project Overview

Atlas Demolition, a premier commercial demolition contractor in Charlotte, NC, is performing both interior and exterior demolition across three adjacent buildings at the Ferrara-Buist York County Government complex. With offices vacated in three phases, work must remain on a tight schedule so staff can return promptly upon each phase’s completion.

Challenges

• Rigid Timeline: Offices must be fully cleared and restored before each group of employees moves back in.
• Furniture Protection: All office furniture and original flooring must be preserved throughout demolition.
• Flooring Preservation: Original flooring throughout all buildings must be preserved under heavy demolition traffic.

Solutions

• Protective Coverings: Deployed heavy-gauge poly sheeting over all furniture at project outset to guard against dust and debris.
• Reusable Floor Panels: Installed hard-board panels over corridors and work areas, enabling repeated use and ensuring the flooring remains undamaged.
• Phased Execution: Demolition and rebuild occur one building at a time—completing full demolition through finish work—so that occupants can re-move in immediately once each building’s scope is complete.

Progress to Date

As of May 2025, Phase 1 demolition, protective measures and the are underway. All furniture and flooring in Building 1 have remained intact, and staff are scheduled to move back in on time. Phase 2 is set to begin with the same protective protocols, keeping the overall project on track for July completion.
